Relationship Between Melt Blown Non-woven Fabric And Mask

Melt blown non-woven fabric is called the "heart" of medical surgical mask and N95 mask in the industry. It is the filter layer in the middle of mask, with good filtration, shielding, heat insulation and oil absorption, and is an important raw material for mask production. It is necessary to use melt blown non-woven fabric to produce masks. The gap of mask is huge, so the gap of melt blown non-woven fabric will be bigger!



PP is the main raw material of melt blown cloth, and the fiber diameter can reach 1-5 μ M. There are many gaps, fluffy structure and good anti wrinkle ability. These ultra-fine fibers with unique capillary structure increase the number and surface area of fibers per unit area, so that the melt blown cloth has good filtration, shielding, heat insulation and oil absorption. It can be used in the fields of air, liquid filter material, isolation material, absorption material, mask material, heat preservation material, oil absorption material and wiping cloth.


The technological process of melt blown non-woven fabric: polymer feeding - melt extrusion - fiber formation - fiber cooling - mesh forming - reinforcement into fabric.


Application scope


(1) Medical and health cloth: surgical clothing, protective clothing, disinfection cloth, masks, diapers, women's sanitary napkins, etc;


(2) Home decoration cloth: wall cloth, tablecloth, bedspread, bedspread, etc;


(3) Clothing cloth: lining, adhesive lining, flocs, set cotton, various synthetic leather bottom cloth, etc;


(4) Industrial cloth: filter material, insulating material, cement packing bag, geotextile, wrapping cloth, etc;


(5) Agricultural cloth: crop protection cloth, seedling raising cloth, irrigation cloth, heat preservation curtain, etc;


(6) Others: Space cotton, heat preservation and sound insulation materials, linoleum, smoke filter, tea bag, etc.




The melt blown cloth can be called the "heart" of medical surgical masks and N95 masks.


Medical surgical masks and N95 masks generally adopt multi-layer structure, which is called SMS structure for short: single-layer spunbond layer (s) is on both sides inside and outside; melt blown layer (m) is in the middle, which is generally divided into single layer or multi-layer.


Plane mask is generally PP Spunbond + melt spray + PP Spunbond, or short fiber can be used for one layer to improve skin touch. The three-dimensional cup-shaped mask is usually PET polyester needled cotton + melt blown + needled cotton or PP Spunbond. Among them, the outer layer is a non-woven fabric with waterproof treatment, which is mainly used to isolate the droplets from the patients; the middle layer is a specially treated non-woven fabric with good filtration, shielding, heat insulation and oil absorption, which is an important raw material for the production of masks; the inner layer is a common non-woven fabric.


Although the spunbond layer (s) and melt blown layer (m) of the mask belong to non-woven fabric, and the raw materials are polypropylene, the manufacturing process is not the same.


The diameter of the spunbond fibers on both sides of the inner and outer sides is about 20 microns; the diameter of the melt blown fiber in the middle is only 2 microns, which is made of polypropylene material called high melt fat fiber.
